Paa

Paa
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan and introducing Amitabh Bachchan
Director: R. Balki; 8.5 /10

The movie is well edited, they know the story and the message passes on well!! I totally enjoyed watching "Auro" and i bet you will too. It for me did not look like a the movie is showcased at a particular set of audience.

Vidya (vidya balan) bumps into cute .. good looking.. handsome.. Amol Arte (Abhishek Bachchan :D!! ).. (he he quite literally.; ) and as all stories would go.. they fall ion love.. when Vidya tells Amol that she is pregnant with his baby.. the Highly ambitious career oriented.. want to do good for the country Amol says.. she should abort the baby; Vidya dumps him... and goes on has Auro (Amitabh Bachchan).. this movie is about him.

Auro is a 12 year old kid infected with progeria, he lives with his mother Vidya (Vidya Balan) and grandmother (Arundhati Naag). Auro wins the first prize at a school fair.. the prize is handed over to him by Amol Arte.. who becomes interested in knowing more about Auro. One one occasion Auro asks Amol to take him to the "Rashtrapati Bhawan". while Auro is making plans to go to Delhi with Amol, Auro has a stroke.. because kids with Progiria do not live more than 13 -14 years..Vidaya thinks that this could be the killer stroke.. revels that his father is none other than Amol Arte. Auro recovers from the stroke and the trip to Delhi happens. This is the bit with the father son chemistry. Auro has promised his mom he will not hell His father anything. Amol has no clue he has a son.

Auro has yet another stroke.. and What follows after is Auro attempts of getting his separated and disunited parents back together.

oh yeah....Kudos to the designer, great job by Sabyasachi Mukherjee!! his attempt in making Vidya balan look different has worked. (FINALLYYYY!!) she looks really elegant.. in the simple sarees he has designed for her.

All said and done the movie given the subject... wont drown you in sorrow....it'll leave you with an emotional feeling.. and i think that is hugely contributed by the performance of Auro. The power of Amitabh Bachchan's acting once again, be it any role he has just excelled at it and yet another time.. he has shown us.. who is the "Baap" (paa) of Hindi cinema.

Kurbaan

CAst: Saif Ali Khan (Ehsan Khan/ Khalid) , Kareena Kapoor (Avantika), Vivek Oberoi (Riyaz Masood) and Om Puri (bhai jaan); Kiron Kher (Aapa)

The movie is a 7 on ten for me..! thoroughly entertaining!! u'll not regret buying a ticket for this one!

Avantika (kareena) comes to India from USA to take care of her Dad, bumps into Ehsan (Saif) at the college...no time wasted ,,,, they fall in love. Avantika gets an opportunity to go back to the USA; and the too good saif agrees to leave everything behind and go with her. (she never bothers to ask him about his family... the father also.. just about object the marriage, but gives in too soon.). truly they could have done some thing about this.

Avantika and Ehsan come over to the USA..Ehsan find a job at Avantika's college. They move into Indian neighborhood. are invited for dinner over by the neighbors.

Avantika mentions to Ehsan about the husband hitting lady from the neighborhood house. ehsan asks her to keep away from their family life and just relax. Avantika stops by to meet Salma's friend Rehana a reported and talks to her about the beating up and stuff; Riyaz (Vivek) who is also working at the news agency offers to help but once rehana is back from her Iraq trip. Avantika on the evening finds out that the family next door is involved in some terrorist activity and her husband is a part of it too. Activity and Rehana's flight is bombed and she dies. there is no mention of any kind of investigation, even when an entire news crew and a delegation from UN is dead. Avantika tries to stop rehana but is too late, manages to leave a voice message on the office phone; don't ask me why she does not dial 911.. and wastes time finding a visiting card and dialing too many numbers.. (psst it's a Hindi movie)

It's now about how she deals with the entire fact of being used. Director Rensil tried to show, Ehsan is a good person but because of his personal loss became a terrorist and sadly i could not empathize with any of the stories and facts. the circumstances get people into terrorist stuff that are doing now.

realization dawns upon Ehsan, but it's too late.

The movie is extremely gripping, has good twists. Worth a watch

Ajab Perm ki Gazab Kahani

Director
Rajkumar Santoshi

Star Cast
Ranbir Kapoor(Prem); Katrina Kaif (Jenny)
Upen Patel (Rahul)
Darshan Jariwala (Shankar)
Govind Namdeo (Pitambar)
Smita Jaykar (Shalini)
Navneet Nishan (Mrs. Pinto)
Mithilesh Chaturvedi (Mr. Pinto)
Zakir Hussain.(Sajid)
Pradeep Kharab (Tony)
Sanatan Modi (Tony's father)
Rati Shankar Tripathi Bhairon Singh)
Abhay Bhargava (Terror Tej Singh)

The movie is a no brainier... very predictable yet funny. Prem and friends run a " Happy club" The club has just one objective and they work towards uniting people in love. They work for evry one to be "Happy" in life the Mantra is simple very very simple - be happy...make others happy...keep the town happy.!! but as you would guess.. their effort to make someone happy results in some disastrous hilarious.. ok ok.. funny consequences

In one such incident while trying to help his friend.. A case of mistaken identity.. the club kidnap's Jenny and Prem falls in love with her. Now, Jenny has a sad story, she is adopted and gets the STEP treatment all the time :'(.. all she wants is some love and care.

Prem the happy-go-lucky guy....realizes and wants to become the boy Jenny describes as the guy she would fall for. and from the careless boy he becomes the "responsible" .. but all his hopes are run down when jenny revels that she is in love with Rahul.

Now as the precedent of "Happy club" he cannot break the one and only rule.."make others happy" ; "make the town happy". he suppresses all his feelings for jenny and strives to unite her with Rahul.

If you are a hard core "Andaz Apna Apna fan" you'll see some resemblance .. though AAA is a master piece.. my personal fav and APKGK is no where near it..

Music is catchy. As mentioned though the movie is predictable. you will not mind watching and having a laugh. Go on and watch it!!

Aladdin

Aladdin--- 6 /10. over all.. an 8 /10 for the special effects!!

Director: Sujoy Ghosh
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez
Music: Vishal -Shekar. (nothing great about the songs)

It’s a wooping .400 million or $ 10 million movie does show lot of super cool effects Supervised by Charles Darby (of Harry Potter fame).

Yes it is based on the famous fable Aladdin and his Magic Lamp,.Amitabh does an amazing job; i would go as far as saying he saving grace for the entire movie!

Aladdin a normal.. college going boy, who has no one in life; as it occurs shares his name with the famous fable character (Aladdin and his magic lamp) and for the same reason is bullied by his college mates.. All of them OVERSIZED!! They bully him by buying him lamps and then make him rub it!! One fine day magic striks!!! and a Genie (Amitabh Bachchan) does come out of the lamp to grant Aladdin three wishes! Aladdin disappoints everyone big-time by using (wasting the 3 wishes!!) to win the girl - Jasmine (Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez)

As all stories go Aladdin likes the girl and cant gear up the courage to tell her he likes her. It’s a typical boy like s girl , wants to woo her..story I would say told with a lot of special effects and in a silly way. Also the movie has songs popping up here and there, just for the sake of it, and sadly music is not really great! One could do so much more given the topic… and the expertise of people involved!

The Ringmaster and his gang, (jokers, giants, fire-eaters) not funny nor does anything about them scare you..

All in all I would say it’s a ok watch I’ll give it a 8 for the effects.. and probably a 6 for all the effort Amitabh and the new girl put in..

Wake up SID

Wake up Sid…4 on 5.

Cast :
Ranbir Kapoor-( Sidharth ("Sid" Mehra));Konkona Sen Sharma(Aisha Bannerjee);Anupam Kher(Ram Mehra-(Sid's Father)); Supriya Pathak(Sarita Mehra-(Sid's Mother));Jason Mehta(Chotu (House-help at Sid's place));Namit Das(Rishi); Shikha Talsania(Laxmi);
Rahul Khanna(Kabir)

Movie is about Sid (Short for Sidddharth) played by Ranbir.. who is a Spoilt rich brat.. Extremely pampered.. Just out of college. The movie movie begins with Sid.. trying to prepare for his final exams..the last one and how he gives up studying for the same and falls asleep. Sid is a young boy who is carefree, does not care too much about anything, not about his education, not about his parents, not about his career. He has his dad’s credit card and is extremely happy partying with his friends.

Sid and friends go to a farewell party and this is where Sid bumps into Aisha (konkana sen) who has come to the ‘sapno ki nagri’.. Mumbai.. to prove to herself that she can make a career of her own and can create a mark in the creative industry through writing. finds herself a job in a local magazine, and a stake in a believable future. It’s a story of millions who move to Bombay

Sid gets kicked out his house and lands at Aisha’s place; He is not exactly the type of BOY Aisha wants to live rest of her life with; she prefers ‘MEN’ and hear enters her boss, the magazine editor kabir (Rahul khana, he’s my personal favorite). He played the snobbish editor’s role really well. HE takes Aisha’s to a couple of parties and also finds her intrest in ‘old hindi film songs’ a little silly and Aisha does not take the snobbishness too well.

Aisha helps Sid discover his life; Helps him find a job in the same media house. He finally make it through the internship and gets his first pay cheque, goes to meet his Dad and is welcomed back to the house warmly as expected.

This film is very real; supryzingly does not have any negitive charecter, there is no rival gang trying to make Sid's life more tuff or some ex-boy friend of Aisha's trying to getback to her.

Given the subject, the slight influence of "Lakshya" i would say is only limited to the subject.. a carefree boy finding his goal; Writer-director (Ayan Mukherjee, a heart-felt debut). The actors all of them have done a great job,I will not mind watching this mover another time.
