Aladdin

Aladdin--- 6 /10. over all.. an 8 /10 for the special effects!!

Director: Sujoy Ghosh
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez
Music: Vishal -Shekar. (nothing great about the songs)

It’s a wooping .400 million or $ 10 million movie does show lot of super cool effects Supervised by Charles Darby (of Harry Potter fame).

Yes it is based on the famous fable Aladdin and his Magic Lamp,.Amitabh does an amazing job; i would go as far as saying he saving grace for the entire movie!

Aladdin a normal.. college going boy, who has no one in life; as it occurs shares his name with the famous fable character (Aladdin and his magic lamp) and for the same reason is bullied by his college mates.. All of them OVERSIZED!! They bully him by buying him lamps and then make him rub it!! One fine day magic striks!!! and a Genie (Amitabh Bachchan) does come out of the lamp to grant Aladdin three wishes! Aladdin disappoints everyone big-time by using (wasting the 3 wishes!!) to win the girl - Jasmine (Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez)

As all stories go Aladdin likes the girl and cant gear up the courage to tell her he likes her. It’s a typical boy like s girl , wants to woo her..story I would say told with a lot of special effects and in a silly way. Also the movie has songs popping up here and there, just for the sake of it, and sadly music is not really great! One could do so much more given the topic… and the expertise of people involved!

The Ringmaster and his gang, (jokers, giants, fire-eaters) not funny nor does anything about them scare you..

All in all I would say it’s a ok watch I’ll give it a 8 for the effects.. and probably a 6 for all the effort Amitabh and the new girl put in..

Wake up SID

Wake up Sid…4 on 5.

Cast :
Ranbir Kapoor-( Sidharth ("Sid" Mehra));Konkona Sen Sharma(Aisha Bannerjee);Anupam Kher(Ram Mehra-(Sid's Father)); Supriya Pathak(Sarita Mehra-(Sid's Mother));Jason Mehta(Chotu (House-help at Sid's place));Namit Das(Rishi); Shikha Talsania(Laxmi);
Rahul Khanna(Kabir)

Movie is about Sid (Short for Sidddharth) played by Ranbir.. who is a Spoilt rich brat.. Extremely pampered.. Just out of college. The movie movie begins with Sid.. trying to prepare for his final exams..the last one and how he gives up studying for the same and falls asleep. Sid is a young boy who is carefree, does not care too much about anything, not about his education, not about his parents, not about his career. He has his dad’s credit card and is extremely happy partying with his friends.

Sid and friends go to a farewell party and this is where Sid bumps into Aisha (konkana sen) who has come to the ‘sapno ki nagri’.. Mumbai.. to prove to herself that she can make a career of her own and can create a mark in the creative industry through writing. finds herself a job in a local magazine, and a stake in a believable future. It’s a story of millions who move to Bombay

Sid gets kicked out his house and lands at Aisha’s place; He is not exactly the type of BOY Aisha wants to live rest of her life with; she prefers ‘MEN’ and hear enters her boss, the magazine editor kabir (Rahul khana, he’s my personal favorite). He played the snobbish editor’s role really well. HE takes Aisha’s to a couple of parties and also finds her intrest in ‘old hindi film songs’ a little silly and Aisha does not take the snobbishness too well.

Aisha helps Sid discover his life; Helps him find a job in the same media house. He finally make it through the internship and gets his first pay cheque, goes to meet his Dad and is welcomed back to the house warmly as expected.

This film is very real; supryzingly does not have any negitive charecter, there is no rival gang trying to make Sid's life more tuff or some ex-boy friend of Aisha's trying to getback to her.

Given the subject, the slight influence of "Lakshya" i would say is only limited to the subject.. a carefree boy finding his goal; Writer-director (Ayan Mukherjee, a heart-felt debut). The actors all of them have done a great job,I will not mind watching this mover another time.
